Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 10,   Pages 1370-1378 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000330

Abstract: Multicomponent oxide (GaIn)O films are prepared on (0001) sapphire substrates to realize a tunable band-gap by technology followed by thermal annealing. The optical properties and band structure evolution over the whole range of compositions in ternary compounds (GaIn)O are investigated in detail. The X-ray diffraction spectra clearly indicate that (GaIn)O films with Ga content varying from 0.11 to 0.55 have both cubic and monoclinic structures, and that for films with Ga content higher than 0.74, only the monoclinic structure appears. The transmittance of all films is greater than 86% in the visible range with sharp absorption edges and clear fringes. In addition, a blue shift of ultraviolet absorption edges from 380 to 250 nm is noted with increasing Ga content, indicating increasing band-gap energy from 3.61 to 4.64 eV. The experimental results lay a foundation for the application of transparent conductive compound (GaIn)O thin films in photoelectric and photovoltaic industry, especially in display, light-emitting diode, and solar cell applications.

Uncovering CO2sub> emission drivers under regional industrial transfer in China’s Yangtze River

Huijuan JIANG, Yong GENG, Xu TIAN, Xi ZHANG, Wei CHEN, Ziyan GAO

Frontiers in Energy 2021, Volume 15, Issue 2,   Pages 292-307 doi: 10.1007/s11708-020-0706-z

Abstract: With the relocation of heavy industries moving from downstream region to upstream and midstream regions in the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB), it is critical to encourage coordinated low carbon development in different regions within the YREB. This paper uncovers the evolution of CO emissions in different regions within the YREB for the period of 2000–2017. It decomposes regional CO emission changes using the temporal and cross-regional three-layer logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) method. Besides, it decomposes industrial CO emission changes using the temporal two-layer LMDI method. The research results show that economic growth is the major driver for regional CO emission disparities. The mitigation drivers, such as energy intensity and energy structure, lead to a more decreased CO emission in the downstream region than in the upstream and midstream regions. In addition, it proposes several policy recommendations based upon the local realities, including improving energy efficiency, optimizing energy structure, promoting advanced technologies and equipment transfers, and coordinating the development in the upstream, midstream and downstream regions within the YREB.

Preparation and characterization of lithium

Chang WANG,Yanlong ZHAI,Xi WANG,Ming ZENG

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2014, Volume 8, Issue 4,   Pages 471-477 doi: 10.1007/s11705-014-1449-3

Abstract: Lithium -MnO ion-sieves were prepared from spinel LiMn O via treatment with nitric acid. The LiMn O was synthesized by a solid state reaction between LiOH·H O and MnO . The effects of the calcination time and temperature on the preparation of the LiMn O precursor and the lithium ion-sieve were investigated. In addition, the Li extraction ratio, the Mn dissolving ratio and the adsorption properties of the lithium ion-sieve were all measured. The lithium ion-sieve had a high exchange capacity and was selective for Li . Specifically, at pH= 13, the ion exchange capacity of Li was 30.9 mg/g in 10 mmol/L LiCl solution and the lithium extraction ratio and manganese dissolving ratio were 95% and 25%, respectively.

Chemical poison and regeneration of SCR catalysts for NO<i>xi>sub>

Junhua LI,Yue PENG,Huazhen CHANG,Xiang LI,John C. CRITTENDEN,Jiming HAO

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2016, Volume 10, Issue 3,   Pages 413-427 doi: 10.1007/s11783-016-0832-3

Abstract: Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO with NH is an effective technique to remove NO from stationary sources, such as coal-fired power plant and industrial boilers. Some of elements in the fly ash deactivate the catalyst due to strong chemisorptions on the active sites. The poisons may act by simply blocking active sites or alter the adsorption behaviors of reactants and products by an electronic interaction. This review is mainly focused on the chemical poisoning on V O -based catalysts, environmental-benign catalysts and low temperature catalysts. Several common poisons including alkali/alkaline earth metals, SO and heavy metals etc. are referred and their poisoning mechanisms on catalysts are discussed. The regeneration methods of poisoned catalysts and the development of poison-resistance catalysts are also compared and analyzed. Finally, future research directions in developing poisoning resistance catalysts and facile efficient regeneration methods for SCR catalysts are proposed.
